In 1989, the number of visitors and exhibits showed that the passenger car and commercial vehicle demonstrations should be separated. The 2,000 exhibits could barely fit on 252,000 square meters, while the event itself was attended by 1.2 million people. That's why organizers of the auto show decided to show cars every odd-numbered year, and trucks, buses and other vehicles every even-numbered year. Thus, the 1991 auto show was the first in the traditional format. Usually the show is held on the second weekend of September.

IDue to the fact that this is a home auto show for all German brands, it is quite natural that almost all their new models are shown here for the first time: Mercedes-Benz W126, Mercedes-Benz 190E, BMW 8 Series, BMW E39, Audi TT, BMW X5, BMW Z8, Audi Q7, BMW i8, Maybach Exelero, and many other models. Among foreign cars for German market the following ones made their debut at Frankfurt Motor Show: Cadillac CTS, Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Murcielago, Lamborghini Reventón, Spyker C8, Maserati Quattroporte, Bentley Mulsanne.

IIn spite of total absence of car industry in Switzerland, the Geneva Motor Show is one of the most significant. The first national auto show was held here in 1896. There were about 400 cars for the whole country at that time. In 1986, the Swiss Automobile Club was founded enelbin paste 300 g, which owns the idea of establishing an annual automobile exhibition in 1905. Its area was 1,200 square meters, for a week 37 stands came to see about 17,500 people. The next year the exhibition area was increased to 2,200 square meters, and the number of visitors was 25,600. But then followed a break, the First World War intervened, the organizers transferred the event to Zurich. In 1923 the exhibition returned to Geneva.

IA qualitative leap which influenced all auto shows took place after the Second World War. A large number of visitors began to come not only to get acquainted with technical novelties, but also to buy a car. This is why automobile manufacturers did not focus on presenting technical features and interesting technical developments, but rather on presenting a colorful show to visitors. Swiss citizens had a high purchasing power, so automakers from all over the world brought the most worthy models from their range here.
