Top history

The auto show is one of the most important events for everyone associated with the automotive industry. Automotive companies prepare to show their production novelties and concept cars, manufacturers of spare parts, tires, and automotive electronics present their developments, all the events are thoroughly recounted by armies of reporters from all over the world, experts and critics give their evaluations. Of course, there is a huge influx of ordinary car enthusiasts who are not indifferent to what is happening to the car in the global sense of the word. Impressions usually suffice until the arrival of new models in the press fleet or the next car show, which, fortunately, in the calendar a lot. Some of them are important for the local market, but there are five most important ones, where the major automakers hold the loudest and brightest premieres.

There are about three big international shows around the world, but five of them are the largest and most important: Frankfurt, Geneva, Paris, Detroit and Tokyo.

The Frankfurt Motor Show has been held since 1991, but its roots go back even deeper. It is considered that the ancestor of the most important motor show in Germany was the exhibition, held in 1897 in Berlin's Hotel Bristol. Only eight cars were on display in the lobby, but it was enough to attract spectators, and the show became an annual event. In 1921, there were 67 automakers with 90 cars on display. The 1939 event was attended by 825,000 people, a record at the time, and was followed by a pause associated with World War II, which was only interrupted in 1947 with the Hanover show. Since 1951 the exhibition moved to Frankfurt.
