Date: November 16. 2001

Roots & Shoots is the Jane Goodall Institute's environmental and humanitarian program for youth (preschool to university). Our mission is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for animals, the environment and human community.

On November 16th, Dr. Goodall will implement Roots & Shoots program for the 6th graders of Notre Dame Seishin University Attached Elementary School. In the morning, the pupils will visit the Great Apes Research Institute of Hayashibara Museum of Natural Sciences to observe chimpanzees with Dr. Goodall. Then, back to the school, they will reflect their observation and talk about what we can do to protect chimpanzees and environment of the Earth.
